In 1979, he moved to Nueva Gerona City, Isla de la Juventud off the south west coast of Cuba. Together with his two friends Julio Gavilan and Tony Man, they formed the band Triangulo Oscuro in 1996. Taking their influences from Afro American, Carribean and Cuban music, they started to enjoy some success. At the Cuban rap festival in 1997, they reached the final stages of the competition that consisted of 168 bands including the likes of Amanaza who went on to form the infamous Orichas. The new interesting fusion of their music came to the attention of Egrem who signed them in 2000 to produce the first of 3 internationally renowned CDs.In 2001, the premier album A Moverse was picked up by Sony who distributed it in the US with great success. In 2002, Triangulo Oscuro was nominated for Premios Cubadisco 2002 with the same album in 2 categories: Opera Prima and Pop Fusion. In 2003, the main CD went on to recieve the Pop Fusion award. Then the band started to tour internationally in Mexico, Russia and the UK alongside Cartel de Santa (mx), Eliades Ochoa del Buena Vista Social Club in London. They also participated in the launch of the famous Cuban Club Floridita in London. In 2007, Philips Man stayed in London to persue a solo career as MC where he uses his experience 100% in this genre. He brings reality to the fore in his songs. He has recently finished his first demo AQUI ESTOY ..(one piece of me) He recorded this in the studio of RED SMOKE FAMILY( ltd) and L.I.. LONDON INDIVIDUAL.(ltd).His sound includes Hip Hop, Dance Hall, Bashment, Reggaeton and various fusions. Philips voice and spanish lyrics infuses the music and gives it a different edge. In the UK Philips Man has collaborated with Frankie Paul, Florian, Kid Afrika, Kapucino Latino, Leximan, Furius Flame, Real Roll-X. The rest is to come.
