I don’t know what you’re talking about, but Top 40 was great back then.
July 5th, 2009 at 3:33
Herman’s Hermits and Sonny and Cher were good? I think not.
July 5th, 2009 at 19:22
the artists that you mentioned had some good songs, as well as some God-awful ones…..but think about some other artists during that period that were good…..Roy Orbison, the Beatles, the Animals, Elvis, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, Gene Pitney, Paul Revere and the Raiders….I could go on and on…..educate yourself before making a stupid comment about the music back then.

Paul Revere and the Raiders? Engelbert Humperdink? You must be joking. Remind me to never let you D.J. a party. That’s exactly the kind of garbage I was referring to. I am quite aware of the music of the 60′s and 70′s. You seem to be missing my original point which was that every generation had it’s Lady GaGa or Brittany Spears. You have to dig a little deeper to hear the high quality music. Also why don’t you lighten up? No need to get nasty about things.
July 6th, 2009 at 22:40
I’m not trying to be nasty and I apologize if that’s the way my words came across. I do DJ, and let me tell you, I can honestly say I have played Fire by Arthur Brown and people looked at me like I was crazy….but in the same night I played Hush by Deep Purple and got a positive response.
P.S.
Believe me I have dug deeper, I have a vast CD collection…..from Pink Floyd to Frank Sinatra, from Tony Bennett to Alice in Chains. I don’t discriminate.

Ich hab selten so eine Lachnummer gesehen , entweder hat er es gern das die Leute über ihm lachen , oder er ist wirklich durchgeknallt

The RAIDERS were GREAT !!–dont put them w/ Humperdinck– he goes w/ that Tom Jones/Manilow crap–but PR&Raiders had Mark F*CKING Lindsay –one of the greatest lead singers to ever hold a mike–being a kid in the 60′s, this is sacred territory for me, and I’m very protective of it–no offense (oh shit, nevermind—OFFENSE!)
July 21st, 2009 at 6:42
no wonder Arthur Brown only had one hit (“Fire”) in the States…this other shit is bizarre–besides, Alice did it WAY BETTER in the 1970′s.
sorry, arthur…double fail
July 21st, 2009 at 6:50
Syd Barrett was also a nutter–but at least HE was a genius…what’s Arthur Brown’s excuse..eh ? meglomania? coz, frankly ..I dont see too much talent here…(“Fire” was the only HALF way decent tune from this dude)
July 21st, 2009 at 7:13
Guess you only like safe, familiar, bland, pre-packaged, repackaged BLANd music, huh? Frankly, I prefer bizarre music to the cookie cutter crap you hear on Empty Vee. If you don’t take any chances, you never make any progress.
July 21st, 2009 at 7:18
Just checked out the Paul Revere song. Kinda thought it sucked.
July 21st, 2009 at 7:59
no, I love Rush, Genesis, Tull too–wouldnt call that progressive, would ya? (it means I loved the stuff I had as a kid IN ADDITION to stuff I had in 20′s and 30′s–not this Beyonce, Eminem Jonas Brothers horsesh*t you guys have now–makes me wanna puke.
July 21st, 2009 at 8:02
tell that to the millions of fans they had in 60′s/70′s–I dont know what “song” you heard by PR&Raiders—but go ahead and tell me “Hungry” Steppin’ Out”, “Good Thing” didnt have great riffs..
believe it or not, BEFORE Aerosmith (a band I also LOVE) The Raiders were considered the American Stones, but n/m you’re too young to know that…
but it’s ok, keep bashing on Lindsay, he’s rich, he could give a sh*t.
July 21st, 2009 at 8:18
look…I also live for the Beatles, Stones, Kinks,Floyd, and Zappa (r.i.p)but….I still LOVE the Raiders as well.
